Sometimes it's the little things and moments that really show your spouse how much you love them. I know at times I can struggle to show Mr. Lee just how much I care in a way that is meaningful to him (that's the key)! We really believe in the Five Love Languages (if you haven't read it, check it out on Amazon here and take the quiz here). Below you'll find five ways to show your spouse you care based on their love language.
Showing Love Through Love Languages
1. Send a flirty text - Words of Affirmation
In this day and age communication is at our fingertips and is instantaneous. Use this to your advantage and text your partner something special. A simple I love you would suffice, or get a little spicy and text what your plans are for when they get home (if you know what I'm saying)!
2. Wake up early or stay up late - Quality Time
Many couples find themselves on opposite schedules, or struggle to fit that quality time in during the day with the busyness of daily life. If you know that your partners love language is quality time, make the effort to wake up a little earlier or stay up a little later. Wake them up with a fresh cup of Joe before your alarms go off, and put the phones down so you can chit chat. Wash dishes or make dinner together, or run an errand you usually run alone, together. Quality time isn't so much about what you're doing together, but more so that you are together.
3. Intentional hugs/kisses/cuddle time - Physical Touch
This one can be hard for couples, especially if one partner isn't as keen on physical touch as the other. This is our case. It's taken many years to find a happy medium. If you know that this is your spouses love language and you struggle with it, find intentional time to make it happen. Maybe it's cuddling first thing in the morning, a kiss good night, or holding their hand while you binge your favorite tv show.
4. Make Their Favorite Dinner - Acts of Service
Pinterest is a great resource if you are struggling to decide what to make. It could be hour partner's favorite dish, an old family brownie recipe, or pop tarts in bed. Just remember, it's the thought that counts.
5. Leave a special treat or gift - Receiving Gifts
Hank is notorious for this one. Any time he runs to the store or is out and about he grabs something random for me. From a candy bar or a soda, a new perfume or a piece of home decor. He is super thoughtful in his choices!
With love,
